The mountain of Montjuic is located near the port of Barcelona on one side and near the Placa Espanya. This place is ideal for visiting; the Olympic games of 1992 were organized on the mountain of Montjuic and in 1929 it was the place where the World Fair was organized. It is a very calming place featuring lots of parks, green beautiful nature and dense forests. Thanks to its atmosphere and memorable paths, this place is very famous around the world among the hikers and the bikers. Due to the increasing attention that the mountain gets from the tourists, the city of Barcelona recently begun to construct modern escalators and walkways so that the tourists can reach the places that are normally harder to navigate to.

On the mountain you can find a place called the Font del Gat. The Font del Gat was once a modern café designed by the famous Josep Puig I Cadafalach. At present, we can find a visitor and information center as well as a restaurant in its place. This is the ideal spot to start visiting and exploring the mountain of Montjuic. You will also find that the big mountain holds some of the most memorable museums in the whole city of Barcelona such as the Miro Foundation or the MNAC.

The most visited place in Montjuic is the Font Magica or the Magic Fountain as it is called in English. If you visit the fountain during the day, you will not notice anything special; in fact it will seem quite an ordinary construction. However, during the night it is a whole different story. It is cleverly made so that music starts playing when night falls and it begins to radiate the most wonderful light combinations that you will probably see throughout the whole year. It also features amazing water dancing patterns, very pretty to look at. It was designed during the World Fair of 1929 by Carles Buigas. The best way to experience it is from one of the many cafes in its vicinity. In the summertime you can go to special shows, organized especially for the visitors. These shows are organized usually between the months of May and October.

You can also visit the Castle of Montjuic or the Castell de Montjuic as it is called. This is an amazing place located near the sea side. If you want to visit, it is recommended that you reach this place via cable car (it can be taken from the port).
