THE TRADITIONAL BULLFIGHTINGS IN SPAIN

By Ash Ford at 2011-01-14 03:24:18

Traditional holidays in Spain

The culture and the traditions of Spain are absolutely beautiful; most of those who choose to visit this amazing country do it because they are attracted by their unique customs. Bullfighting is known all over the world and it occupies a very special spot in the Spanish traditions. The passionate fight is not for the weak, but it is a very interesting experience for those who can take part in it as spectators.

La Manga as the center of bullfighting

Everyone in Spain knows that La Manga is the capital of bullfighting. You will find it situated on the sunny Costa Calida, in the beautiful region of Murcia as a stretch of 28 kilometers which represent the border between the Mediterranean Sea and Mar Menor. Millions of tourists choose La Manga every year, because they know the fact that it is the place where the fascinating history of bullfighting was written. In order to mark the fact that Murcia is the capital region of bullfighting, the Murcia Bullfighting Museum opened about 90 years ago. Tourists love the museum because it hosts the biggest collection of photographs, posters, costumes, and videos showing the most important bullfights in the world.

Where the bullfighting takes place

Ronda de Garay is the Walk of Fame of bullfighting; the street hosts the building where all the spectacular action takes place. The building is called the Murcia Bullring and regardless of the place you chose for your accommodation, the Bullring is surely close to you. Three toreros participate in a corrida and they have to fight one by one against two bulls. The game of strategy is very attractive to the public, as millions of people come to watch it every year.

Other activities

Murcia is not everything about bullfighting. There are a lot of other entertaining activities at your disposal, such as playing golf or tennis in one of the famous courts. The beaches situated in Mar Menor are great and offer you the opportunity to practice a very wide range of water sports. If you are passionate about history and culture, go to Cartagena and Lorca; they are both situated very close to La Manga and represent the perfect destinations for sightseeing. Your Spanish holiday can prove to be one of the best holidays you’ve ever had, so give it a chance and let yourself be charmed by the unique spirit of this country.
