A miracle of man

It would be a pity to visit the beautiful region of Andalusia and not go to Alhambra; many say that Alhambra is Andalusia, as it gathers everything that is beautiful and majestic about the region. It is its crown, its most precious and valuable belonging and if you visit it, you will surely understand the reason. Alhambra is a complex palace described as marvelous by those who visit it, as those who do instantly fall in love with it. Alhambra was the home of the Nasrid dynasty, which is the last dynasty of the Moors ruling over Spain. The beauty of the decorations and the delicacy of the architectural style is overwhelming, impressing all of the two millions of visitors it receives annually. If all these are enough to help you decide that it is a wonderful idea to visit this stunning monument, you should book in advance, as in the summer season, which is also the peak season, tickets are being sold very fast. So, in order to make sure that you won’t miss the opportunity to visit it, make plans with a few months in advance.

The monuments

Alhambra is formed of several palaces, museums, Moorish architecture, lush gardens with amazing fountains and cool alleys, and relaxing patios. The Nasrid palaces and Carol V’s Renaissance Palace are among the most beautiful and the most popular monuments of the complex. The Nasrid palaces are remarkable examples of Moorish skill, as the architectural style and the decorations are absolutely amazing. The other parts of the complex, Alcazar and Generalife, are also very popular among tourists. It is a pity that this beauty could have been lost, as it has been left into ruin for several decades. However, its potential was observed by the French forces who occupied the region during the cruel Peninsular War and restoration started ever since. The restoration work was of such a quality that Alhambra was very close to being selected among the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Perhaps the beauty of Alhambra is maximized by the beauty of its surroundings; the Sierra Nevada Mountains which guard Granada with their peaks offer spectacular views. If you visit Alhambra, sacrifice a couple of your hours to go to Granada: the Renaissance Cathedral, where Ferdinand and Isabella were buried, is also worth visiting.
